Head Coach – Robin Mizell

Robin has 15 years coaching experience in the sport of Synchronized Swimming. She started coaching in 1990 with the Santa Clara Aquamaids where she was responsible for coaching the 11& under program. During her 5 years with the Aquamaids, Robin worked with all the age group programs as well as with the Junior and Senior level athletes. In 1991 she was named as one of the youngest coaches to the US National Synchronized Swim team program where she coached the American team at the 1991 Pan American Games in Cuba. She took a small break from synchronized swimming to explore marketing in the Silicon Valley. Robin joined Sac Synchro in the fall of 2002 as our Head 12-13 age group coach and during the past two years has worked with all levels at Sac Synchro.

Robin also swam for the Santa Clara Aquamaids from 1979 to 1989. During her swimming career, she was an age group champion in duet and team competitions for 6 years. A member of the 1985 and 1986 Olympic Festival teams as well as a member of the United States National team for 4 years. During her years swimming she swam on the 1987 Pan Pacific team, 1987 America Cup team, 1988 Swiss Open team, 1988 Nations Cup team and in 1989, was a Senior National Champion in the Trio competition.

 

Kathryn Freer—13 & Over Age Group Year-Round Figure Coach

Kathryn was an original coach for Sac Synchro. She was one of the first involved when our team started in 1985. She has been coaching for us since that time except for a short break in 1999-2000 when she took time off to get a credential in education. She also holds a full-time job teaching Kindergarteners.

Kathryn was also a synchronized swimmer. She swam for Cypress for 9 years and was All American in 1976. During her career she was also a Junior and Senior National team finalist. Kathryn received the USSSI New Coach of the Year in 1991 and was again rewarded with the West Zone Contributor of the Year for 2003-2004.

 

Heather Freer—13 & Over Age Group Year-Round Coach  

Heather is a homegrown Sacramento synchronized swimmer. As the middle child of Kathryn Freer, the original head Sac Synchro coach, Heather has been around the pool for over 15 years. During this time she has coached all levels at Sacramento and the Walnut Creek Aquanuts. She is known for her creativity and ability to motivate kids. Heather worked in the Netherlands with Cirque du Soleil and is currently swimming with the Sacramento Synchro Masters team.

When Heather is not coaching and swimming, she enjoys playing the piano, musicals, snowboarding, writing poetry and drawing.

Robin Cabe—11-12 Age Group Year-Round Coach
Robin was also a swimmer with Sac Synchro swimmer.   She qualified to participate in the US Junior trials and is known around the US for her fun choreography.  Although Robin has coached many of Sac Synchro’s summer programs and clinics, this will be her first year coaching our year round program.

When Robin is not at the pool, she enjoys theater arts and traveling.   She just returned from spending the  06 summer working and traveling in Spain.

Olga Molotilova  - 13 & Over Age Group Year-Round Coach &
Novice-Intermediate Program Coach
Olga is a very seasoned coach who just made a trip from Florida to join our team.  Originally from Russia, Olga was a National team swimmer winning medals in both the team and duet competitions.  When she retired from swimming she coached for her club team in Moscow helping her team remain the top club in Russia.    

Olga has also appeared in synchronized swimming shows in France, Taiwan, China, Singapore and Malaysia.  She ended her career with the USA Universal Circus where she was the choreographer of the high wire troop.  Her husband still works for the circus and travels with
them 10 months out of the year.
